Wheelchair Van

Wheelchair vans also known as ambulettes provide safe, comfortable transportation for passengers in wheelchairs.

All wheelchair vans are licensed and inspected by the Ohio Medical Transportation Board. The vans are custom designed and constructed with raised roofs, hydraulic lifts, built-in 4-point tie down systems and spacious, comfortable interiors.

Each vehicle:

• Receives maintenance service regularly
• Participates in a procedure by which necessary repairs are identified and addressed immediately
• Is equipped with a first aid kit, disinfectant, hand sanitizer and body fluid cleanup kit
• Is equipped with a two-way communication, belt cutter, fire extinguisher, flares and emergency reflective kit

Passengers are transported according to Americans with Disabilities Act regulations. The hydraulic lift safely lifts them from ground level to the floor of the van while in their wheelchairs. Their chairs are then secured to the floor of the van by the 4-point tie down system and belted for safety. Passengers with scooters are asked to transfer to a seat where they can be safely belted and their scooter is secured to the floor.

Each wheelchair van driver is chosen and hired not only for their professional qualifications but for their compassionate and kind approach to the service they provide.

Each driver:

• Is licensed and comprehensively trained
• Has a Motor Vehicle Driving Records that meet our rigorous standards
• Passes substance abuse testing
• Is subject to Criminal Background Checks
• Receives Passenger Assistance Training
• Receives CPR and First Aid Training
